Puppy photography * Gracie

Gorgeous Gracie was a perfect puppy model. These photographs are for a surprise birthday gift. I thought that was such a sweet idea since puppies grow up so fast.

Canmore dog portraits * Frankie + Abby

Abby wore her fancy bling collar for her photo shoot. She looked stunning.

At first Frankie wasn't too sure about standing on the huge stone but after he realized he could be taller then all the other dogs at the dog park he seemed to quite like it. I have been looking forward to photographing Leroy's brother Frankie for a while. Jacki also works at The Bow River Vet Clinic and she took care of our dog Edith and now Leroy. We are so grateful for her care and compassion.

We met at the dog park a place Abby and Frankie love a lot.

I was so tempted to take Frankie home with us. He looks the most like Leroy of all the siblings and we'd have the closest thing to a matched set. Plus we were envious of the way that Abby took care of Frankie at the park she definitely takes on the part of the big sister seriously. It was really something great to witness.

Thank you Jacki for a fun morning!

*The Rat Pack*

Today I got to photograph Leroy's brother Frankie. They look a lot a like. Leroy is taller and has a long tail those are the biggest differences.
I have now photographed 2 of his 5 siblings.

Since they are mostly rat terriers the siblings have been known to be called the "Rat pack".

Below is Leroy's brother Frankie.

Leroy's sister Elsa.

Canmore photography * Hooch's new family

It took less then 15 minutes to fall in love with Andrea's family.

Alecia YOU are funny!

Adorable 5 year old Lucas. Isn't he gorgeous?

The newest member of the family lovingly named "Hooch" is a lucky dog.

I met Andrea through the Bow River Vet Clinic in Canmore. She called our dog Edith "Momma" and welcomed her with open arms whenever we visited the clinic.

When our vet invited us to meet the remaining siblings available for adoption we immediately fell in love with Leroy. At that point Leroy had been fostered by Andrea and her kids Alecia and Lucas and they had loved and cared for him and were in the process of making him a permanent member of their family. We didn't know that when we picked Leroy and wanted him to come home with us. It was then that Andrea said if anyone was to have Leroy she would be happy to know it was us and selflessly let him come home with us that night.

To honour our dog Edith's passing and the care that Andrea showed Edith and us we wanted to photograph her pet, but since she didn't have a pet because she gave Leroy to us we offered to photograph her kids.

It was not long afterwards that Andrea started to tell us about this dog that someone found with a sparkle in her eye. The dog was found on the side of the highway eating a cow carcass and the man bravely offered the dog his sandwich in exchange. The dog was happy to follow him to his truck and that dog found himself at Bow Valley Vet Clinic and won over Andrea's heart instantly. After some initial testing of Hooch's behavior to ensure he was fit to be a family dog Hooch found himself a new family and a whole lot of love with Andrea and her kids. He may just be the luckiest dog. But getting to see how Andrea glowed whenever she talked about him proved that really we are lucky to have the love of dogs, however it is that they find us.

Andrea has a beautiful family. Alecia and Lucas are gorgeous but what really moved me was how funny they were and how close of a family they are.

Andrea, Alecia and Lucas thank you for allowing us to bring Leroy home with us. We are thrilled to see just how much you love Hooch and how much he fits in with your beautiful family. Alecia and Lucas thank you for letting me take pictures of you, it felt good to laugh with you. You are both beautiful and funny people and I feel lucky to have met you.

Wags Unlimited * Pinot

Pinot is the puppy of our dog trainer Annette Young. Isn't Pinot just beautiful?

We have been working with Annette since the first week we brought our puppy Leroy home and she has been a wealth of knowledge. Her company Wags Unlimited offers dog friendly dog training. What I love most about her techniques is the ways in which she fosters a deeper connection with your puppy. Her calm, patient and friendly approach always makes us feel comfortable. We have learned so much about how a puppy develops and how to raise a well mannered dog. We are incredibly grateful for her expertise and approach. Leroy graduated from her puppy class and we have now started the adolescent class.

Annette offers classes in Canmore that run for 6 weeks, she also offers drop in classes and in home consultations. We started with Annette's in home consultation to get Leroy set up in our home and practice successful crate training and we are so thankful that we did. If you are interested in instruction in Banff or Canmore you can reach Annette at tailwags@telus.net
