Canmore Anniversary portrait * Sally + Curtis

S
ally and Curtis just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary together and they commissioned me to take a few portraits of them together to mark the occassion.

I think this one might just be my favourite from the day.

Getting to photograph a couple who has celebrated 25 years together and who also happen to work together was inspiring for me. Sally and Curtis invited us to their home and I fell in love with their gorgeous "backyard" an expansive landscape with a beautiful forest to photograph in.

Sally and Curtis thank you for asking me to photograph your anniversary portrait and thank you for being open and laughing along with me.
I personally hate to have my picture taken so thank you for your bravery. :)

In my next post I will share the work that Sally and Curtis do together and show how they improved our home.

A couple in love * Crystal + Arshad

Crystal has the most incredible blue blue eyes. Absolutely gorgeous.

Crystal and Arshad have been married for 3 years. Over 16 monthes ago they planned a trip together to stay at The Banff Springs for the first time and head to Vancouver for the Olympics. I named it their epic olympic trip. I was really excited when they asked me to take a few photographs for them in Banff to remember their trip by.

Crystal and Arshad are a couple who laugh easily with each other, they are full of joy and laughter and light up around each other. They were such an amazing couple to get to spend some time with.

Arshad is a family doctor and when he described what it is like for him to deliver babies and the incredible raw emotions he gets to be witness to I found his stories to be heartwarming. Crystal is an oncologist and I can't imagine a harder job but her heart and compassion must bring great comfort to her patients.

I was really moved by their determination to make time for themselves as a couple and explore western Canada together. Given their jobs it is not an easy feat to plan a trip and get away. They were able to get tickets to curling, the final hockey game and the closing ceremonies and I have to admit watching those events on tv made me even more excited knowing the history that Crystal and Arshad were getting to witness together. I couldn't help but look for them in the audience. :) It is a trip I am sure they will never forget and a reminder to all of us to make time as married couples to explore together and create memories.

Thank you Crystal and Arshad for asking me to photograph a part of your journey together. Kevin and I loved getting to spend time with you, we laughed so hard and loved seeing a couple find such joy in each other's company.

Banff Couple portrait * Kyla + Shane

K
yla and Shane came out to Banff for a couple's portrait. They have no plans to get married but were looking for some images of them together in this moment in their lives for their new home together. It was a windy chilly day but Kyla and Shane cuddled up and I love the images we captured together. I also love the idea of celebrating all the stages in your lives as a couple.

Kyla and Shane thank you for a wonderful time! I can't wait to hear what images you choose for your home.
