Banff pregnancy photographer * Claire + Mike

I
first met Claire and Mike when I photographed their gorgeous winter wedding at The Juniper in Banff. Claire's sister Kate coordinated it with me to give Claire and Mike a pet portrait with me for her wedding gift to them. I thought that was so thoughtful. At the time Claire and Mike had just gotten their labradoodle Charlie and Claire's sister thought it would be nice for them to get photographs of Charlie taken.

Claire and Mike have been very fortunate and were lucky enough to get pregnant soon after they started trying. It was fitting that Charlie got to be the messenger of the good news when Claire had a custom shirt made for Charlie that read "I'm going to be a big brother".

Claire and Mike shared their happy news with me and decided then that they would use the gift from Kate to have pregnancy portraits taken that would also include Charlie of course.

I don't think I've ever met a more well behaved dog then Charlie. I was really amazed at his patience for photographs. Doesn't he have the cutest face?

I loved this Buddha belly shirt that Claire brought along. Claire has an amazingly perfect belly.

Sweet baby converse.

* Happy Mother's day *

I absolutely love the wallpaper in their tv room. It made for a great backdrop for photographs.

This baby is due in 3 days!!! I'm so excited.

There is something so heartwarming about getting to be witness to a family in love grow.

I first met Allison and Ian when I photographed their first pregnancy. I had the honour of photographing their first born son Lachlan as a newborn and again as he reached a year. Lachlan is a beautiful boy with amazing blue eyes and a funny charming personality. He gave me a hug as I left this time and I nearly melted right there on the floor. Lachlan has some great DJ scratch moves that he does with his Dad when they ride around in the car.

Lachlan is going to have a sibling in just 3 days and I'm so excited for this family. I feel so touched having gotten to see this family during the big happy moments in their lives. It is really incredible to get to see Lachlan grow up through my lens. Photographing kids has really sped up my sense of time. I have been feeling so very grateful for the work I get to do and for the moments I get to see that I wouldn't otherwise be witness to if not for my camera.

Allison and Ian I will be thinking good thoughts for your family this week and I can't wait to hear your baby's name for the first time.
Thank you dearly for asking me to photograph your family. It makes me so happy to get to see your family grow.

Calgary family photography * Baby B on the way!

This family is really special to me because I have had the unique honour of photographing some big moments in their lives including their engagement, their wedding, their first pregnancy, their newborn son, Cael when he turned one and now their second pregnancy. I am so excited to hear about the new baby boy they are expecting. I can't wait to hear his name and know he has arrived with big brother Cael to charm him.

I loved Cael's adorable hoodie and Mom's perfect belly! I hope you are all doing well. I can't wait to hear about Baby B's arrival!!

Calgary pregnancy photography * Janine + Glen

Percy...isn't he handsome?

I absolutely LOVE red and blue together. It's one of my favourite colour combinations topped only by orange and blue of course.

Glen Dresser finished his first novel Correction Road and I have been impatiently waiting for his second novel. I loved the way Glen weaved in bits of Canadiana in his work. I read Correction Road and then promptly read it again. It's beautifully written.

Janine is the incredibly talented creator and designer behind the magazine and gallery UPPERCASE. If you haven't already subscribed do it now! It is so exciting to get the latest edition in the mail. I run home and rip open the packaging and spend the afternoon reading it from cover to cover. It is so rare now to get such good mail and have something that inspires creativity by getting insight into others lives who are leading a creative life. To subscribe to UPPERCASE magazine click here.

Janine's baby should be arriving any day now, I can't wait to hear her name and know that she has arrived safely. The morning of Janine and Glen's baby shower we walked around their neighbourhood and took a few pictures. I really think it's such an important documentation for your child to have when they are in their 30's. I really wish I had pictures of my Mum pregnant with me. The only picture I remember seeing of her pregnant with me is of her in the background out of focus. I'd love to have those photographs now. With that in mind I really wanted to give Janine's baby a few pictures of her parents to have to look back on when she's in her thirties.

Janine and Glen had a really fun baby shower with both husbands and kids invited. Everyone was asked to bring their favourite ice cream sundae topping which was a fitting tie in to their wedding where guests got to enjoy ice cream cones in the garden. It was a whimsical and fun treat for everyone. The guys were asked to bring their favourite bottle of beer for the soon-to-be new Dad to have in his collection.

Janine and Glen are such a talented couple. Their baby girl is going to be so lucky to be surrounded by such creativity.

Congratulations Janine and Glen on your pregnancy! Thank you for allowing me to take a few pictures.

***edited to add....Biggest surprise ever Janine and Glen's baby arrived safely into the world as a BOY!!! They were told without a doubt they were having a girl. Good thing Janine designed a calming gender neutral nursery instead of pink mania. I'm thankful orange is also gender neutral so my baby gift can still be of use.
