Highland Executive Chauffeur * Picnics

One of my favourite moments from Laura and Kenya's wedding day was the incredibly romantic picnic they shared after their wedding ceremony before we drove around for photographs. I had never seen this done on a wedding day before and I thought it was so sweet.

Laura and Kenya hired Gerrard from Highland Executive Chauffeur to drive them around in his 1952 Silver Bentley for their wedding. Gerrard has recently added picnics to his services which feature locally made gourmet lunches, delicious wines and handcrafted locally made chocolates. Picnics can be an added service to your wedding day chauffeur service or you can enjoy a tour around Banff in the Bentley followed by a picnic perfect for romantic proposals, anniversary celebrations and surprises for loved ones.

Gerrard surprised Laura and Kenya by setting up a table for them to enjoy in the same field that they had been married in. I took a couple of photographs and then we stepped away so the newlyweds could enjoy a few moments alone together. Laura told me they loved the opportunity to really take in the view and reflect on their wedding ceremony.

The picnic recharged them, gave them a romantic moment together as newlyweds and will certainly be a lovely memory for them of their wedding day. A wedding day goes by so quickly I love the idea of setting aside some time to reflect on the ceremony together.

Banff Wedding Photography * Laura + Kenya

Y
ou may remember Laura and Kenya from their engagement session. They recently had their fairytale wedding and I was thrilled to be there to photograph their day. Their travel themed wedding had lots of personal touches and honoured their family cultures beautifully. There were lots of memorable moments throughout their day.

Laura created an eco-friendly wedding and that included her custom made dress made with organic hemp and silk, remnant fabrics, and vegetable dyes. Their wedding rings were made with recycled gold and conflict-free gems.

I loved Laura's vibrant bouquet from Willow Haven.

I loved this moment right after Laura and Kenya were married as they walked away as husband and wife and their flower girl excitedly ran to catch up with them.

I normally don't include photographs of family formals on my blog but I just love this sweet photograph of Kenya with his Mum and brother.

The beautiful Cascade Ballroom in The Banff Springs.

Laura and Kenya are such a gracious elegant couple who are deeply in love and lovely to be around. Their kindness and generosity was mentioned by several people during the toasts. The weather cooperated beautifully for their outdoor ceremony which was important to Laura and Kenya as they wanted to be married surrounded by the mountains. Laura put so much heart into her day. It was a day that flowed beautifully.

One of the things that I loved that isn't pictured here is the videos that Kenya's friends and brother put together for Laura and Kenya. Friends of Kenya went out onto the streets in Edmonton and asked complete strangers for advice about marriage and love for their soon-to-be married friends, it was hilarious and sweet and so original. Kenya's brother created a video of all of Kenya's relatives in Africa on his last trip home and asked family to share their well wishes for the couple. It was so very sweet to see.

Laura and Kenya I feel so very lucky to have met you both and to have witnessed the day you became husband and wife. Your wedding was so amazing!

Juniper Wedding Photography * Kendra + Mike

Y
ou may remember Kendra and Mike from their engagement session. I was really looking forward to their wedding day after getting to spend that afternoon with them. Their wedding was a perfect expression of their love for each other and their close knit families. It was filled with laughter and an ease that made the entire day glow.

Here is Kendra just before the ceremony as it rained outside. Her excitement and smile never dampened.

Kendra's dress is one of my all time favourite dresses because of the way it fit her. I've heard "Wear the dress, don't let the dress wear you" and Kendra's Paloma Blanca dress was a perfect example of that. The fabric was a very light gorgeous raw silk and moved beautifully. It was a dress that showed off Kendra's beauty with grace and elegance. Best part...it had pockets!!! I had never seen that before. Kendra kept saying how comfortable she felt and I never saw her struggling with her dress at any part during the day which I think is important.

Loved the coach shoes that Kendra wore with her dress. The little hearts on the sole are too cute.

Kendra had her Mum and her "Mama" (grandmother) help her with her pearls.

There were a few tears when Mama saw Kendra for the first time.

I loved the excitement that was obvious all day.

Their ceremony was performed by Patricia Compton.

Sometimes the moments just before and just after the first kiss as husband and wife are some of my favourites.

Love this moment between Kendra and her sister Renee right after the ceremony.

Adorable!

There is a glow about Kendra that is so lovely to be around. She is such a kind hearted person who is always thinking of others. She is full of grace and gratitude.

I loved the delicate hand knit shawl that a dear friend made for Kendra.

Kendra and Mike are thoughtful people that make you feel good just by being around them. Mike is such a gentleman and treats Kendra with such care and respect. They are so at ease and their wedding day reflected that.

Moments before the ceremony was supposed to start the rain started falling. Melanie at The Juniper did a beautiful job of letting Kendra and Mike know their ceremony options and giving them time to make their decision at the last minute. Melanie let Kendra know that she had set out 20 umbrellas for guests if needed. In the end Kendra decided to move ahead with the original outdoor ceremony and it worked out perfectly there wasn't a drop of rain until well after everyone was inside enjoying dinner.

Their ceremony was so sweet. Kendra's Mama gave a reading and Mike and Kendra shared personal vows. It was a beautiful ceremony to get to be witness to because of how excited Kendra and Mike were.

The word that keeps coming to mind when I think of Kendra and Mike's wedding is ease. Kendra and Mike truly enjoyed their day to the fullest. They didn't let the rain panic them. They enjoyed the time with their families and friends. It was a wedding I was deeply looking forward to because I got to witness the connection that Kendra and Mike share on their engagement shoot and their wedding was an expression of that.

I would like to thank Kendra and Mike's families who were extraordinarily kind to Kevin and I. Your kind words and encouragement meant a lot to me. Kendra and Mike are so fortunate to be so close to you all.

Mike and Kendra thank you for allowing me to photograph your day. It was such a beautiful day to get to be a part of. Your excitement and kindness was so sweet to see.
